Benzalkonium Chloride gel and solution are both topical antiseptic preparations containing the active ingredient benzalkonium chloride, a quaternary ammonium compound, which acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent effective against bacteria, fungi, and some viruses; they are typically used for skin disinfection, wound cleansing, and as a preservative in various pharmaceutical products, with the gel form offering a thicker consistency for localized application while the solution is a thinner, more readily spreadable liquid depending on the concentration and intended use. 

Administered in the eye, cyclopentolate hydrochloride blocks the acetylcholine receptor in the sphincter muscle of the iris and the ciliary muscle, thereby preventing contraction
